Travel to Loreto's world class paddling/whale watching destinations, on par with the Galapagos and Patagonia, is surprisingly easy compared to other Latin American or South American destinations. The latest information is provided below.
A simple direct 2 hour flight from Los Angeles LAX to Loreto LTO OR 60-minute flight from the Cabo area to Loreto will set you down in the sunny palm-tree studded relaxed seaside village of Loreto. You will be met by our representative at the airport holding up a sign and whisked away to our tour hotel a 5 minute drive away in downtown Loreto, a short walk from all the restaurants, shops and lovely waterfront walkway. You can also fly into Los Cabos "Cabo" (on the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula, where the movie stars go for resort action) and fly Aereo Calafia to Loreto OR fly into the capital city of La Paz and travel by express bus or rent a car and drive 4-5 hours north on the main highway to Loreto (the tiny Loreto bus station is right across the street from our tour hotel).

We strongly recommend you check into the Alaska/Horizon Air LAX-LTO flight AT LEAST 2 hours prior. Also, it's important to confirm seat assignments upon booking on the LAX to LTO flights as they do overbook at times www.alaskaair.com. Since Alaska Air is the only direct USA carrier into Loreto and flights are extremely limited (once a day, only Sun,Tu,Th, Fri, only 70 seats per flight) and WILL BE sold out come the date of your tour, you will need to make that flight or you risk missing our entire kayak tour (unless you could fly that same day to La Paz or Los Cabos then bus or drive to Loreto). Do call Alaska Air or call us if their website is confusing - as sometimes it does not give all flight options.
OR Aereo Calafia airline has just started a new flight service between Cabo San Lucas and Loreto on a new American-made plane. You can often find inexpensive airfares to Los Cabos on major airlines. The cost for the Aereo Calafia to Loreto is around $80-100 USD (check exchange rate) one way. The flights departs Cabo area in mornings (so you'll have to spend the previous night in a Cabo hotel). Return flights depart Loreto and arrive Cabo area in time for some international flights out the same day. Bookings can be made online in English.
It is a bit confusing because AereoCalafia has flights from the two Cabos (Los Cabos) area:
1) San Jose del Cabo (the big airport with international flights) and
2) Cabo San Lucas (small airport a 30 minute drive from San Jose del Cabo).
Here is the schedule:
- Service between Cabo San Lucas and Loreto: Cost $1110 pesos = $85 USD one way.
Times: Depart Cabo San Lucas 10:05 am, Arrive Loreto at 10:50 am every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
Depart Loreto 4 PM, arrive Cabo San Lucas 4:45 PM every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
We have a special arrangement with an LAX Hotel in Los Angeles. We stay often at the hotel ourselves, enjoying its pool and 24 hour restaurant. If you have an extra day in Los Angeles we can suggest some day activities there for you, such as visiting the La Brea Tar Pits, Getty Center, Santa Monica Pier, Venice Beach (famous for street performers, and maybe even a movie star, etc) and other of our favorite downtown Los Angeles places.
