Kayaking Tours at Loreto Bay, Sea of Cortez, Baja

Sea Kayak Adventures Imagine sea kayaking in Loreto Bay on the Sea of Cortez, paddling along a spectacular section of coastline and exploring desert islands which pierce the tranquil waters. The towering volcanic escarpments of the Sierra Giganta Mountains rising out of the sea create your backdrop. On a Baja kayak tour in the new Bahia de Loreto National Marine Park in Loreto Bay, you'll experience red-hued desert colors set against azure blue water. Magical land formations give this area great aesthetic and photographic appeal, from Loreto and the islands of Danzante and Carmen, to our expeditions from Loreto to La Paz. These waters offer exceptional opportunities for viewing dolphins, sea lions and blue and fin whales in the wild. High-flying frigate birds, blue-footed boobies and squadrons of pelicans are your companions as you kayak past manta rays and brightly colored fish on any of our Sea of Cortez sea kayaking expeditions.

Huge cacti thrive in this captivating landscape of white sand beaches, dramatic cliffs and hidden coves. Nature hikes take us up scenic canyons and headlands offering unforgettable panoramas of wild coastline and scattered islands. Kayaks are the best way to explore the volcanic shoreline, its sea caves and reefs. The warm, crystalline waters of the Sea of Cortez host a breathtaking array of tropical fish - perfect for snorkeling.

"We had a glorious time in Baja and were most impressed with the extraordinary coast and the pristine, hospitable Sea of Cortez. Everything was wonderfully organized and we felt really privileged to have such great guides, who were also spectacular chefs. We look forward to being with Sea Kayak Adventures again".
-- Ann Eno, Sea of Cortez

Each winter endangered blue whales more than five times as long as your kayak migrate to these waters looking for tasty crustaceans. Encountering the largest animal on earth is a thrilling experience.

Blue WhaleOur six- to eight-day Sea of Cortez Islands Expeditions begin just south of Loreto and explore the beautiful Islas Danzante and Carmen, located in a national marine park. For the more adventurous, join our twelve-day Isla Carmen Circumnavigation or Loreto to La Paz Expedition and experience a remote area few people see. All itineraries offer excellent kayaking, snorkeling, hiking and whale watching. Check our new Yoga and Kayaking Series Series and Mothership Kayaking Tours.

In February and March, add a one-day Magdalena Bay Whale Watching Excursion on to your Sea of Cortez kayak trip. Skiffs take you into the bay for a closer look at the magnificent California Gray Whale. Includes van transportation from Loreto and a naturalist guide. You'll bring home a lifetime of memories. Also, in February and March we are offering a new series of Sea of Cortez Islands Expeditions & Whale-watching Combo tours. These 8-11 day tours are the ultimate in-depth experience of both Magdalena Bay gray whale nursery and sunny Sea of Cortez.

Quick Adventures! This a series of shorter motorboat-supported adventures for people who have limited vacation time. Our shorter Sea of Cortez Islands itineraries includes camping, kayaking, snorkeling and hiking on two beautiful islands in the Bay of Loreto National Marine Park. It's an excellent introduction to sea kayaking while experiencing the best paddling waters in Baja. Unlike our typical self-supported kayak tours, the motorboat carries most of the gear and food, allowing you to paddle a lighter kayak. We can also provide chairs and tables for dining as well as a cooler with ice for cold drinks

"We enjoyed everything: the scenery, the helpful and knowledgeable guides, the amount and intensity of paddling, the wonderful kayaks, the food, the snorkeling, the wildlife sightings and the hiking".
-- Andreas Hubatsch, Sea of Cortez
