"The trip was more than
I could have imagined. It was, by far, the best adventure trip I have ever
taken".
-- Shari Kleist, Johnstone Strait BC sea kayaking tour
An incredible
environment for sea kayaking, BC Canada's Inside Passage is a glacier-carved
waterway between the northeast coast of Vancouver Island and the snow-capped
mountains of mainland British Columbia. A focal point,
Johnstone Strait (out of Port McNeill)
allows us the opportunity to view orcas, kayaking through the scenic waters
which contain the highest density of killer whales anywhere in the northern
hemisphere. These northern
resident orcas are attracted by the prolific salmon runs that are funneled from
the open ocean by geography into this narrow strait. Thus, it is a major
site of study by the world's most renowned orca scientists. It is only a very rare trip
that we don't see these magnificent creatures. The rugged beauty of its
hundreds of islands, lush rainforest, profusion of marine life, ancient sites
of native culture, creates a magical Canadian sea kayak experience reminiscent
of an earlier time.
Although the surrounding
waters are home to bald eagles, humpback whales, seals and porpoises, it is the
orcas that captivate our attention by blowing, spyhopping and breaching. If the
excitement of paddling with orcas isn't enough, discover the fascinating
cultural history of the area. We camp part of the time on a private island
owned by the First Nations indigenous people, by exclusive arrangement - right
in the heart of orca territory. Among the intricate network of lush
forested islands, explore ancient village sites and ancient middens. Don't miss
the cliff pictographs.
Sea Kayak Adventures,
Inc offers kayaking and camping in the pristine orca waters of
Johnstone Strait and in the remote
wilderness islands of Queen Charlotte Strait. Our luxury lodge-based trips at
God's Pocket Resort in God's Pocket Provincial
Marine Park (rated by Jacques Cousteau as the best cold water SCUBA dive spot in the world) are designed for those who wish to experience diverse wildlife and kayaking without having to

Hardy or Port McNeill). Our guides will spark your excitement and introduce you
to this wondrous land of totems, whales and orcas.
"How did you arrange for
orcas to greet us on the first day and humpbacks to bid us farewell at the end?
But seriously, the trip met my expectations and more". -- Ralph Parks,
