Meet our instructor: Jess Donohue!
(Jess, who lives in Eugene, OR has been featured in The Register-Guard online as well as on Eugene's local NBC News affiliate, KMTR. Check her out!)
Jess brings a love of yoga, SUP, and general fitness along with a focused but playful spirit to our Baja Yoga & SUP tour. She discovered the depths of her personal passion for strength in movement, and a desire to share that with others after two debilitating car accidents. After a long recovery, she began powerlifting, then earned her certification in Alignment Yoga with a focus on anatomy and physiology, as well as efficient and natural movements of the body. She has also been a practicing massage therapist for over 20 years and understands body mechanics and the best ways to develop strength and mobility with minimal risk of injury.
More recently, Jess became certified in Broga®Yoga, a style of practice that emphasizes fitness movements and High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) combined with traditional yoga postures. She is also a certified SUP Yoga teacher and has been teaching this emerging approach to yoga practice for over 2 years. She enjoys the playful and fun aspects of SUP Yoga, while also emphasizing the incredible amount of focus it requires.
Combining proper alignment with strength and controlled mobility, Jess is able to guide you in a fantastic full body workout, whether on land or on the water.
In Jess’ own words, “Few things make me happier than feeling strong, moving my body and inspiring others to do the same. I am serious about fitness but don’t take myself too seriously. If we can be present, move our bodies mindfully, feel vibrant and alive at the end of class while laughing and enjoying ourselves, it’s been a good day indeed. My goal is to be doing this kind of movement, both on land and on the water, for the rest of my life and inspire others to do the same. May we all find strength to make good choices, mobility to move with ease, balance to find peace amid the chaos, and a sense of lightness that enables us to find joy and laughter every day."
